An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) team in a 18 month, fixed-term vacancy for a Band 7 specialist CF dietitian.
With recent changes to CF medicine due to the introduction of highly effective modulator treatments, this is an extremely exciting time to be working within CF as the care and management of the disease is evolving. We are an innovative team who aim to optimise outcomes and stay abreast of the latest developments, treatment options and technologies. We are looking for a Dietitian with an interest in CF to become an integral part of our dedicated CF team and to lead the CF dietetics team.
This post will give you the opportunity to maintain and develop skills in managing pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy, gastrointestinal complications, vitamin replacement, nutrition support, weight management, CF diabetes and CF-related bone health. The post is for 0.6 WTE to provide dietetic management for people with CF, working closely alongside and managing an experienced CF dietetics team, providing high quality, evidence-based, individualised care and treatment in the inpatient, outpatient and community settings. The postholder will provide specialist advice, support and education to patients, carers and other healthcare professionals, as well as contributing to the ongoing development of clinical practice and audit.

Main duties of the job
· To provide advanced nutritional assessment, diagnosis and treatment of adults with CF including anthropometric measurements (including bioimpedance analysis), biochemistry interpretation, pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy, gastrointestinal complications, vitamin replacement, nutrition support, weight management, CF diabetes, CF-related bone health and cardiovascular health.
· To conduct CF annual review assessments and write comprehensive reports.
· To place continuous glucose monitoring sensors as part of screening and monitoring for CF diabetes.
· To have a high level of expertise regarding oral and enteral nutrition support, including managing patients who are home enterally fed.
· To educate and counsel young people and adults with CF on the management of CF, and to offer long term support, particularly at times of treatment change or significant life events.
· To work as an integral member of the CF MDT to ensure a holistic approach to patient care and to provide a flexible, prioritised service based on clinical need.
· To attend specialist CF MDT meetings, including CF diabetes and CF bone health.
· To act as a highly specialist resource
· To provide supervision, leadership, planning, delivery and evaluation for the CF dietetics team.
· To participate in quality improvement, audit and research in order to evaluate whether standards are being met and make recommendations for change.

- HCPC registration
