Are you looking to develop your skills and knowledge to build a career? Frimley Health Foundation Trust has an exciting fixed-term vacancy for a Band 6 Senior Paediatric Dietitian to join a paediatric dietetics team of 5 dietitians who support the paediatric service at Frimley Park.
The responsibilities within this role include the nutritional assessment and care of paediatric patients within the neonatal unit, children's ward, paediatric diabetes and out-patient clinics. There is an opportunity to develop skills and knowledge within general paediatrics as well as gaining experience in areas such as gastroenterology and allergy and providing some information in virtual groups as well as .
The paediatric dietetic work contributes towards best care approach and in turn the Frimley Health Foundation Trust strategy. This role will support this work and provide an opportunity to develop and practice skills within both inpatient and outpatient groups.

Main duties of the job
This is a varied clinical role which will allow scope for autonomous working and development of skills and knowledge, whilst being supported by an experienced team lead in paediatrics. This role will include the assessment of patients within the out and inpatient setting, including triaging new referrals and contributing towards quality improvement within the outpatient setting. There is an opportunity for multidisciplinary working within the diabetes paediatric team, where you will counsel and teach on carbohydrate counting and optimising diabetes management.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

· To devise an individualised dietetic management and/or treatment plan using clinical reasoning and make decisions regarding and formulate skills to utilise a range of treatment options in formulating a programme of care, carry out nutritional diagnosis and prescribe ACBS products for conditions where there are limited professional clinical guidelines
· To act as a dietetic resource for the speciality and associated clinical groups
· To provide complex outpatient clinics as required. The role requires a minimum of one outpatient clinic per week. The types of patients within this patient group include;
· To contribute to the service development, efficiency and safety in the dietetic department. The department is currently working on a quality improvement project within outpatients and you will have the opportunity to contribute towards this work.
· To be responsible for implementing the standards and policies within your speciality and/or department, and where applicable, propose changes to working practises.
· To support in the training of students on clinical placement including A, B and C placement students.
· To support the clinical supervision of junior colleagues, particularly within the specialty
· To contribute to the education of multidisciplinary groups, patients, families, carers and general public as appropriate
Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Recognised degree or post graduate diploma in nutrition and dietetics or equivalent
- HCPC registration
- Member of BDA
- Knowledge of evidence-based practice
Desirable criteria
- Attendance of relevant accredited course
- Attendance at student supervision training
- Member of a specialist interest group
- Relevant nutrition based course post qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Relevant post registration clinical dietetic experience
- Training and supervision to support staff and students
- Experience of Audit or Quality Improvement project
- Evidence of working as part of an MDT
Desirable criteria
- Experience of research
- Management of complex outpatients patients
