Meet Mr. Jones, your first appointment of the day, grappling with significant hearing loss that's left him feeling isolated. Drawing on your expertise, you fit him with hearing aids from top brands like Oticon or Phonak, while also offering personalised advice on assistive listening devices. Through your guidance, Mr. Jones regains confidence in managing his hearing loss and reconnects with the world around him.

In our all-purpose built soundproof rooms with integrated diagnostic equipment, you'll conduct comprehensive audiological assessments. Whether it's Mr. Smith, struggling with tinnitus affecting his daily life, or Mrs. Patel, seeking clarity amidst age-related hearing challenges, each patient presents a unique puzzle for you to solve with precision and compassion.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

Senior Specialist Audiologist Band 5/6 (depending on experience)

When you join ESTH you'll be warmly welcomed by our friendly multidisciplinary team comprising clinical scientists, hearing therapists, balance specialists, and AVP consultants, totalling 35 dedicated professionals. Instantly, you'll become an integral part of our Adult Audiology service and deliver exceptional clinical care from day one.

Clinics operate from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with flexible working arrangements available.

Your responsibilities include:

· Perform routine audiological investigations to support the differential diagnosis of auditory dysfunction.

· Determine aural rehabilitation strategies, encompassing the selection, fitting, and exchange of a variety of NHS digital hearing aids, as well as taking aural impressions and offering advice on assistive listening devices.

· Conduct ward visits to in-patients requiring assessment or assistance with hearing aid issues or repair.

· Provide expert audiological support for ENT and Audiological Medicine clinics.

· Conduct assessments of patients with hearing difficulties through the direct referral system.

· Offer wax removal services, including micro-suction clinics.

· Support delivery of our Hearoic private dispensing clinic if you are HCPC registered.

· Work with Adults with learning disabilities in bespoke clinics.

A comprehensive audiology department that provides a full spectrum of services, ranging from paediatric to adult care, inclusive of transition services, advanced diagnostics, vestibular diagnostics, and tinnitus therapy. We also engage with the local Dementia Hub and maintain symbiotic training connections with nearby sensory teams.

We  participate in national and local research endeavours,  such as the COACH Study, which compares cochlear implants with hearing aids in adults with severe hearing loss.

Collaborating  with the Royal Marsden Hospital, we contribute to ototoxicity monitoring and our audiologists can present their research findings at national conferences.

This position offers a one-year fixed term, making it ideal for those seeking a short-term commitment or considering a secondment from another Trust. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, including those with experience in private practice or community settings, who are eager to bring fresh perspectives and skills to our team.

You’ll be located at one site but might need to travel occasionally. Transport links are excellent, with frequent bus services connecting the hospitals to surrounding towns and cities, including Epsom, Sutton, and Wimbledon. Additionally, Epsom and Sutton railway stations provide direct links to London Victoria, making the hospitals easily reachable for staff from the capital and beyond.
