Job overview

We are looking for a nurse with some experience in acute care and interested in developing their skills to support interventional procedures in Radiology.  Candidates with no previous experience in interventional radiology will be considered.
You will be joining a busy multidisciplinary team that deliver a high standard of care to our patients. You should have excellent team-working and interpersonal skills, to support the Lead nurse in planning and developing interventional services and be able to organise and manage your own work-load.
You will need to demonstrate the ability to learn new skills, and work independently following training in a range of interventional procedures.

Main duties of the job

To provide nursing support in all areas of the radiology department
To assist in specialist procedures carried our in Radiology and ensure patients are monitored whilst in the department.
As a member of the Radiology team to participate in setting standards of care to ensure the service to the patients is always of a high standard and maintained at that level.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To provide safe and effective nursing care to patients attending the
Radiology department
This will include both adults and paediatric patients as well as frail and
elderly cohort. To manage procedural lists and implement nursing care according to
departmental/Trust guidelines, policies and procedures, ensuring accurate
documentation.
To assist the Radiographers and Radiologists in procedures as diverse as
barium examinations and interventional procedures such as biopsies and
angiograms. This involves preparing equipment, ensuring asepsis if
necessary, acting as scrub assistant when required, safely preparing and
handling all medical devices used, and ensuring consent form is signed
To participate in the procedure of ordering and maintenance of supplies to
ensure all necessary material resources are available for all sessions.

  • Evidence of further professional development
