Job overview

Surrey Downs Health & Care are looking for a Band 5 Respiratory Physiotherapist to start immediately 3 days a week - 21.5  hours on a Bank basis. You will be based in the Sutton Community area.

Main duties of the job

Diploma/Degree in physiotherapy, HCPC, Membership of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)

 Experience: NHS experience; Range of placements at graduate/undergraduate level; Pulmonary Rehabilitation experience

Skills /Abilities : Able to work effectively as part of the MDT; Able to communicate effectively with patients, their carers, line manager and other members of the Physiotherapy Service, multi-disciplinary team and external agencies ; Able to work effectively to meet the needs of the Community respiratory Service; Able to work independent and unsupervised during community visits; Knowledge of assessment tools and outcome measures; ale to travel frequently throughout the Borough within the working day.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To undertake evidence based audits to evaluate team’s clinical practice. To make recommendations, which may result in the implementation of changes to practice or contribute to service protocols. To participate in the pulmonary rehabilitation audit and research, along side senior therapist To provide therapeutic assessment for patients with long term respiratory conditions and to undertake, with guidance, all aspects of clinical duties to deliver clinically based, individualised treatment programmes as an autonomous practitioner within the community setting. To provide a high standard of physiotherapy interventions to pulmonary rehabilitation services in a variety of community-based settings This involves working in a range of clinical settings i.e., community centres and health centres within the community. This includes working 5 days over a 7-day working week as the service demands. To deliver patient education talks for pulmonary rehabilitation program under guidance of senior therapist. To hold responsibility for own caseload working without direct supervision; supervision takes the form of case reviews and peer review. Advice and support from a senior physiotherapist is available and clinical work is routinely evaluated. To undertake evidence based audits to evaluate team’s clinical practice.
