2 Fixed term 12 month contract to start October 2025
We are inviting applications for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Urology. The post would be suitable for candidates with past experience in Urology, looking to build on training opportunities and would also be suitable for those requiring more generalised exposure in Urology prior to taking up a substantive consultant post.
Main duties of the job
The post holders will be part of a team of seven middle grade doctors providing Urology services to the department and Trust. Duties will include outpatient and clinics at St Helier and Epsom Hospitals. Elective urology theatre work is undertaken at Epsom hospital.
Emergency admissions are to St Helier hospital and the post holder will be part of the on call team (one week in seven).
Other duties will include flexible cystoscopy, lithotripsy (ESWL) .

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for:
- Assessment, care and treatment of patients presenting acutely to the specialty.
- Participation in the SPR on call rota and to provide cover in exceptional circumstances for colleagues’.
- Attending clinics and assessing patients and formulating treatment decisions seeking advice from the consultant.
- Attending operating sessions with the consultant and assisting or performing operations as appropriate.
- Conducting daily ward rounds on inpatients under the consultant’s care, supervising the junior doctors in the care of them.
- Teaching and training staff in other medical disciplines, nursing and support staff as appropriate.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Full registration with the GMC
- MRCS
Desirable criteria
- FRCS (Urology) or FEBU
Clinical Experience
Essential criteria
- Minimum of 12 months experience in Urology at SHO (CT1-2) level or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Experience in Urology at ST3+ level or equivalent
Skills
Essential criteria
- Good IT skills
- Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English to the appropriate standard necessary to fulfil the job requirements
- Able to work in a multi-disciplinary team
- Good interpersonal skills
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Broad understanding of Urology

- Ability to communicate with patients and relatives
- Able to make own arrangements for travel between working sites
Applicant requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable people and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
