Under the direction of the Assistant Childcare Manager, assist in the day to day running of the Nursery in accordance with all Trust and Nursery policies and procedures.
Sustain and develop good practice within the Nursery, by sharing a responsibility in offering a stimulating environment for the children in your care, by ensuring a contribution of ideas, covering The New Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) ensuring that a child can develop to the appropriate age and stage of development.
Main duties of the job
To have made an effective contribution to reaching the Trust’s
vision, strategic objectives and key work programmes.
As a key worker to a designated group of children be responsible for the documentation of the children’s Learning Journeys. Participate in their supervision, enabling them to thrive, by providing a stimulating, caring and learning environment in which children of all ages may develop. Enabling you to provide positive feedback to parents. Develop links with the parents and encourage parental participation within the nursery, being understanding and receptive to the parent’s wishes. Offer encouragement when appropriate.
Maintain effective communication, that’s relevant with other members of the team, contributing to team briefings and Nursery Staff meetings.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Inform your Senior Practitioner of any information relevant to your children so she can assess strategies you may need to use for their personal development.
2. To be aware of and act appropriately on Trust Child Protection Polices and Procedures.
3. Maintain the high standards of hygiene within the Nursery, promoting the children’s own awareness by being a positive role model for them to emulate. Follow appropriate Food Hygiene Guidelines when serving and preparing food.
4. Promote within the nursery, Equal Opportunities, displaying sensitivity to the children’s cultural and socio –economical backgrounds, gender and disability or language capabilities.
5. Be aware of the confidential aspects of your work, treating all confidential information relating to the children, parents, staff and professional contacts in a manner which will protect the individual’s privacy.
6. Ensuring all available resources are utilised within the Nursery.
7. To contribute any additional skills and competencies that is appropriate, with the role and agreed with the Assistant Childcare Manager.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • 3 GCSEs, including English or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- • Recent Paediatric 12 hr First Aid Qualification.
Experience
Essential criteria
- • Working within a childcare setting, responsible for allotted key children
Desirable criteria
- • Ability to provide an appropriate learning environment.
