Staff Nurse, Kingfisher Ward

Kingfisher ward is looking for dynamic staff nurses to work on this surgical 31 bedded ward. The ward has a variety of different specialities including Upper GI, Colorectal. Breast Vascular and Urology. 

Surgical nursing is not essential as training is given.

Main duties and skills that are required will include:

  • Good communication skill.
  • Post op and pre op care of surgical patients.
  • Wound dressings
  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Taking responsibility for allocated patients daily.
  • Drug administration
  • Nursing assessment completion. 

To work effectively and efficiently within the framework of team nursing and individualised patient care. In collaboration with the department’s integrated multidisciplinary team to develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care for patients. 

To contribute towards developing and maintaining a suitable and stimulating learning environment, and to supervise junior registered and non-registered staff. 

The role is varied, equally challenging and rewarding, where you will have the opportunity to really make a difference to the experience of our patients. Whether this is supporting patients in their rehabilitation and recovery following an operation or a period of acute illness or providing holistic and compassionate care for patients at the end of life.

Working as a Registered Nurse within the hospital setting.

Carry out assigned tasks involved with direct patient care whilst maintaining the privacy and dignity of patients.  This will be whilst demonstrating excellent care, compassion and communication, working alongside the multidisciplinary team, incorporating:

  • Delivering high quality direct patient care
  • Following patient admission/transfer/discharge processes
  • Maintaining a safe environment
  • Medication administration
  • Care planning, implementation and evaluation
  • Communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team, patients, families and their carers
  • Maintain best practice, ensuring compliance with evidence-based practice and research
  • Accountable to nurse in charge of each shift and supporting junior colleagues
  • Maintain skills, knowledge and competencies adhering to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, and the Trusts policies and procedure
