We have an exciting opportunity to join our Trust as Head Safeguarding. Reporting to our Deputy Chief Nurse, our future Head of Safeguarding will bring expert knowledge in the field of safeguarding, public protection and vulnerable persons. They will lead our safeguarding teams, adults, children, vulnerable women and the learning disabilities, dementia services and newly appointed Enhanced care Team supporting patients with mental health needs across the Trust. As the head of service for these portfolios you support senior teams to deliver the best care aligned with the best practice strategies.

Main duties of the job
As an experienced registered professional working at a Trust-wide level, the post holder will have lead role the Trust in ensuring robust mechanisms for safeguarding, and public protection, including those required for the Trust to fulfil its statutory duties.
The post holder will be required to draw on / ensure access to high levels of specialist knowledge about safeguarding, public protection, and vulnerable persons national policies and processes to support all professionals in meeting statutory compliance across the Trust.
You will lead the Trust's safeguarding teams, adults, children and vulnerable women and the learning disabilities and dementia services ensuring patients and carers are supported, assessed and appropriately care planned.
As a member of the senior nursing, AHP and midwifery team you will be professionally accountable to the Deputy Chief Nurse and be a highly visible member of the senior leadership team.

Qualifications and Further Training
Essential criteria
- Registered health or social care professional (nursing, allied health professional, social worker)
- Masters degree or equivalent in related subject
- Recognised qualification in safeguarding
- Recognised training in Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
Desirable criteria
- Recognised teaching qualification ENB 998/997
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of safeguarding adults including undertaking investigations and reporting on the findings
- Previous experience of working in a multi-agency manner
- Proven experience of working across professional teams and organisational boundaries
- Experience of working as a senior manager for safeguarding
Desirable criteria
- Experience of facilitating training events
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- In-depth knowledge of national and local Safeguarding policies, legislative framework and current priorities.
- Experience of working with and advising Executives in relation to safeguarding.
Skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent verbal and written communication including report writing skills
- Evidence of leadership and influencing skills and the ability to provide effective challenge.
- Ability to Chair meetings effectively

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
