Dermatology Clinical Nurse Specialist.

NHS AfC: Band 7

The statutory requirement to be fully Covid-19 vaccinated as a condition of employment from April 2022 is subject to legislative review.

The successful applicant may have contact with vulnerable service users and we will therefore seek proof of being fully vaccinated or exemption during the recruitment process.

As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination uptake as this remains the best line of defence against COVID19.

Job overview

Are you a band 7 Dermatology CNS looking for new challenges or experienced band 6 Dermatology CNS looking to develop your career further?  Or equivalent experience.

We have an exciting opportunity for you based primarily at Epsom Hospital, part of Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust and group gesh formed by St George’s, Epsom and St Helier hospitals.

We are looking for a registered Dermatology nurse to cover the inflammatory service; you would be running independent nurse clinics for our isotretinoin, systemic and biologics patients.

Informal visits are welcome and encouraged.

Main duties of the job

Provide expert advice, counselling, and education to patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Undertake systemic drug monitoring, including biologics, methotrexate, ciclosporin, and isotretinoin.

Independently assess, diagnose, and manage patients in nurse-led clinics.

Support and educate junior colleagues, acting as a mentor and role model.

Participate in service development, clinical audits, and research initiatives to improve dermatology care.

Work closely with the multidisciplinary team and attend MDT meetings to ensure coordinated care.

Act as a non-medical prescriber (or work towards this qualification).

Working for our organisation

St George’s, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey. Our sites include St George’s Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).
