Band 5

Job overview

F7 vascular  ward is a specialist unit focusing on Vascular Surgery. We are looking for an enthusiastic band 5 who is interested in working in an exciting area providing a high level of specialist care.

The vascular unit focuses on patients with specific vascular issues. You will have the opportunity to gain a great understanding in the care of the vascular patient. Key areas will include pre and post-operative care, meeting rehab needs, post-operative pain management and establishing working relationships with the multidisciplinary team.

F7 Vascular is a great place to learn a whole new speciality as the unit features a completely specific patient dynamic. Because of this, you will build great working relationships within the vascular team.

We also care for General Surgical specialities including Colorectal, Upper GI, Urology and Emergency Surgical patients.

We are  providing an excellent opportunity to develop assessment and prioritisation skills. We offer excellent support to new members of the team, with a dedicated practice development facilitator to enable you to develop your surgical knowledge and skills.

A full induction to the ward will be given and ongoing personal development will be planned through the appraisal system and with the Practice Development Team.

Main duties of the job

  • To implement and be responsible for maintaining high standards of patient care.
  • To act in accordance with policies and nursing procedures as per Trust policy.
  • To co-ordinate the team/ward in absence of the team leader or ward manager.
  • To ensure confidentiality of patient records and high standards of nursing documentation.
  • To be aware of the complaints procedure and be able to apply it as needed.
  • To escalate as appropriate any untoward incidents, complaints and ward/staff issues.
  • To participate in ongoing clinical supervision.
