4.75 general neurology outpatient clinics at FPH

1.5 Ward referral sessions FPH- shared with 3 other colleagues including shared cover for leave.

Opportunity for online access to St George’s neurology department grand round

An interest in epilepsy or MS would be desirable but not essential, as candidates with interests that complement the current neurologists will be considered. We have a well-established MS service with an MDT offering all treatments

It is likely that one clinic will be at a peripheral site and some telephone clinics have been necessary due to lack of outpatient space.

Depending on time in post and specialist interest it may be possible to establish a link with St George’s hospital, which the substantive consultants attend for their specialist clinics.

Duties of consultants in the department also include:

1. Teaching lectures/workshops for other departments, trainees, nurses, midwives, GPs

2. Prospective cover of urgent ward reviews when colleagues are on leave

3. Triaging of neurology outpatient referrals and GP advice & guidance/queries as part of clinical admin.

4. Supervision of the specialist registrar, other resident doctors and supporting  specialist nurses
