Job overview

Woodlands Day Nursery is operated by Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust to support the childcare needs of staff working at Frimley Park Hospital.

 

The nursery has up to 84 places consisting of 5 rooms that will cover the ages 3 months 5 years. and opens 6.45 -6.30.

 

The overview is to provide the following:-

  •  Be responsible to the Nursery Manager for the delivery of full day care to children under 5 years, in accordance with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage 2024.
  • Be responsible to the Room Lead for ensuring the delivery of practices that support children’s progress, as outlined within the Early Years Outcomes, non-statutory guidance 2024.
  • Contribute to cohesive team working practices, including key person system; identification, planning and implementation of own continued professional development (CPD); opportunities to further strengthen effective provision benefiting children and families.
  • Be responsible for monitoring the Health and safety requirements in the Nursery, ensuring that processes are documented and assessed, risk assessments are completed and that the Nursery is compliant

Main duties of the job

  • Using knowledge and understanding of child development theories, progressive learning and best working practices, contribute to and deliver individualised care and learning to children under five years within statutory and guiding principles described in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).2024
  • To be responsible for key children’s observations, planning, assessments, to create children’s learning journey.
  • To be responsible for producing formative and summative assessments of key children’s progress.
  • Promote an ethos within the setting that values and celebrates diversity that enables all children and adults to make a positive contribution to nursery life.
  • Contribute to practices including the key person system, that support partnership working between parents, practitioners and others in order to lay a secure foundation for children’s future learning and development.
  • Liaise with Lead Practitioner and Inclusion Co-ordinator when early signs of individual needs that could lead to later difficulties have been identified. 
  • To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND).
  • Contribute to practices supporting individual children and families transitions into the nursery between rooms and to school or other setting.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Good knowledge in the area of diversity within a childcare setting.
  • Knowledge of Early Years policies and procedures

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Gained Early Years Level 3 Ofqual Approved Qualification
  • Minimum of GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or Equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Paediatric First Aid certificate
  • Committed to undertake continued professional development (CPD) relevant to personal and professional needs.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in implementing the Early Years Foundation Stage for children from birth to five.
  • EYFS Observation, Assessment and Planning.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in an NHS Day Nursery or other full day care setting
  • Some experience across full birth to five age range
