Job overview

We are seeking Community Health Care Assistants to support an efficient, effective, and quality adult community nursing service in Guildford and Waverley. You will deliver delegated health care activities including venepuncture and wound care predominantly to people in their homes. We have full time, part time and bank hours available Monday to Sunday between 8 am and 8 pm.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to perform a range of health care assistant activities in the community setting and will work without direct supervision under the direction of a Registered Nurse. This post holder will need to ensure that all relevant policy, protocols, guidelines, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed. The post holder will need to have health care assistant skills in basic wound care, venepuncture, catheter care etc and have a level 2 NVQ or equivalent.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will be required to work without direct supervision to perform a range of health care assistant activities
in the community setting for patients at home where the health and wellbeing of the individual would be compromised 
by travel. Health Care activities will include venepuncture, wound dressings, blood glucose monitoring, insulin 
Administration, continence reassessments, ordering and managing stock items.

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of a good level of education
  • Insulin training and competency up to date or willingness to undertake
  • NVQ Level 2, Care certificate or equivalent or willingness to undertake
Desirable criteria
  • Certificate of competence in adult venepuncture
