JOB SUMMARY
The main role of this position is to deliver and develop the acupuncture service both internally within the FC and in partnership with Royal Surrey Cancer Centre .This is in order to develop and ensure a patient centred approach that promotes symptom control, support. Enhances quality of life, health and wellbeing, and honours the whole person in mind, body and spirit as they go through cancer treatment and beyond.
The post holder will work closely with the integrative therapy lead and with a team complementary therapy/integrative staff and volunteers .The role encompasses supporting a team of volunteers to provide acupuncture and support on an outpatient and inpatient basis in the Fountain Centre as well as in settings across Royal Surrey Cancer Centre Cancer Centre, wards and outreach settings including other local hospitals.

JOB PURPOSE
The Fountain Centre is an independent charity based within Royal Surrey Cancer Centre at The Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust (RSFT). It provides a caring and supportive environment for people affected by cancer. The Centre offers a service based on integrative cancer care. This is a patient-centred, evidence informed approach that uses lifestyle factors, mind-body practices and complementary therapies, alongside conventional cancer treatment. The charity also offers signposting and a benefits service
At its core, integrative oncology seeks to engage people to be active participants in their own care, from preventions through treatment and beyond. Through the promotion of FC services, patients are encouraged to become actively involved with managing their own health to empower them to regain control over their lives.
Your role as acupuncturist will be to deliver acupuncture to cancer patients and carers at the Fountain Centre. To work within a team of therapists reporting to the Cancer Support Service Lead. Maintaining agreed standards of care, integrity and dignity of all people attending the complementary therapy service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified acupuncturist to provide acupuncture to cancer patients whilst under the care of the Royal Surrey Cancer Service. This post will require the therapist to provide appropriate one-to-one or group acupuncture to cancer patients under the support and guidance of the Fountain Centre, an independent cancer charity based within the hospital.
The Acupuncturist will be accountable to the Fountain Centre Manager and work alongside the other therapists, Research and Development and Administrator. The role will include managing all acupuncture support in the Fountain Centre (including from volunteers), liaising with the medical team and ensuring all interventions are appropriate to the patient's needs.
The role will demand a high level of flexibility, the person must be able to work independently and have excellent knowledge and skills in different acupuncture techniques. The post holder must also be self-motivated and understand cancer support well.
The Acupuncturist will have experience working in oncology or long-term health conditions and experience in working for a charity is desirable. The person must be a qualified acupuncturist to a degree level, have excellent IT skills with a good understanding of the role of the Fountain Centre and how it supports those affected by cancer.

- Experience of working or volunteering with patients with a cancer diagnosis/life limiting, complex or long term conditions.
- Experience of working in a healthcare setting or charity
- Evidence of Insurance, Member of approved governing body and Member of relevant professional association
- Evidence of continued professional development with a clear focus on cancer care and long term conditions
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with volunteers
- Experience of working in multi- disciplinary teams.
