Applications are invited for a full time (10 PA) Locum Consultant Immunologist posts within Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services, the joint pathology directorate of the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust, Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, and Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.

This post is fixed term for 12 months.

The successful applicants will be based at the Royal Surrey Hospital but will be expected to undertake work at the laboratory site at St Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey.

Candidates who wish to work a different number of programmed activities to that specified in the current job plan will be considered for this post, with negotiation on the content of the job plan on an individual basis. Candidates who wish to apply as part of a job share arrangement will also be considered.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to develop and expand the clinical service in allergy and immunodeficiency, and the immunopathology service. Clinical services are provided at the Royal Surrey and Frimley Park sites. The laboratory provides a comprehensive service in autoantibody, immunochemistry, cellular and allergy testing.

The successful applicant will have MRCP and FRCPath in Immunology, or evidence of equivalent training and experience.

Essential criteria
  • Full registration and a license to practice with the GMC
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • FRCPath or equivalent
  • MRCP or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Educational Supervisor qualification
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Immunology (or relevant specialty) via CCT (CCT date must be within 6 months of interview date), CESR or • European Community Rights

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of thorough training in immunology and allergy
  • Relevant and up-to-date experience in the practice of Immunology and Allergy

Research

  • Active interest in and commitment to research clinical innovation
