Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a skilled, motivated and confident analyst to join the trusts developing Informatics team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team that is in the process of creating a digital platform to support the Trusts Divisions enhancing the patient’s experience. This post will provide direct support to operational management, and corporate services colleagues, ensuring accurate and detailed insights driving the key decisions made by the Trust.

You should have the ability to create and maintain information reports, providing analytical commentary to staff of all abilities, on a routine and ad-hoc basis, networking with the relevant key stakeholders to source/define/analyse the data required.

You must possess excellent IT, communication, numerical and analytical skills, with excellent knowledge and ability within Excel and SQL, knowledge of SSRS, Qlikview and Power BI would be an advantage, but not essential.

The post requires the successful candidate to be flexible, able to work under pressure and be adaptable to changing requirements and deadlines.

Main duties of the job

The post holder provides a high quality information service to clinicians and service managers including providing regular and ad hoc reporting and delivery of reporting projects. The post holder also carries out duties in line with the Trusts statutory duties to provide regular, timely and accurate data to external parties such as NHS England and Freedom of Information requests.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

In order to advise on a range of Health Informatics the post holder will have had in depth experience of information analysis and will have developed highly specialised knowledge within the NHS or healthcare setting.

The post holder will play a key role in proactively developing the effective use and interpretation of information to support strategy, policy and operational performance of a division within the Trust.

Presentation and analysis of clinical and management information to support business planning and performance improvement. 
 
The role encompasses collation, analysis and interpretation of information across a wide variety of operational services, development of routine and ad hoc reports presented in a clear and understandable format and supporting managers and clinicians in defining their information requirements to meet strategic, operational and clinical needs. It involves also management of substantial areas of work under own initiative. 
 
To provide a high quality information management service and engage with clinicians, senior managers and colleagues from a wide range of teams and services to support them in their use and interpretation of information. 

Liaison with a wide range of stakeholders to identify information needs and the provision of information to meet these requirements. 
 
Interpretation and implementation of national/local policy and guidance from an information management perspective.

Essential criteria
  • Post Graduate Diploma or equivalent level of knowledge/relevant work experience

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience in information related or analytical role
  • Significant experience of data analysis and interpretation
  • Experience of presenting information in written reports so that it can be easily understood
  • Experience in the use of database extraction tools to develop complex queries
  • Experience of pulling together data from a wide range of sources and presenting information in a meaningful way
  • Knowledge of mandatory reporting requirements for acute providers and NHS data standards
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of analysing data in a Secondary Care context
