Job overview

The Royal Surrey Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting enthusiastic, innovative band 5 Midwives to join their team.

Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust provides a CQC Outstanding rated Maternity Service to the women and pregnant people of Surrey and the surrounding areas. Supporting the births of 3200 babies a year, our midwives, obstetricians and support workers are dedicated to providing personalised maternity care and parent education that adapts to the needs of the parents. We believe in investing our time in families to build relationships that support calm and secure childbearing experiences.

We are a UNICEF Baby Friendly Gold accredited maternity unit and support 65% of our families in a continuity of carer model. We are proud to have received the 2025 HSJ Patient Engagement and Experience Initiative award for our ground-breaking digital Parent Portal.

Main duties of the job

Deliver high standards of care, ensuring that each woman’s journey to motherhood is an individualised experience. Our robust preceptorship programme with dedicated clinical support will support new midwives to develop the skills and ability to work confidently across the maternity pathway, in both the hospital and the community setting as part of a continuity of carer team.

We really are a fantastic place to work and an excellent choice for ambitious and innovative midwives with extensive opportunities for ongoing career development from specialist midwifery roles to advanced clinical practice. With a strong senior leadership team, a drive for innovation and transformation, and a culture of providing safe, evidence based care, we really are a fantastic place to work.

Our main acute hospital site is in Guildford with community hospital sites at Milford, Haslemere and Cranleigh. We provide adult community health services in the community and homes across Guildford and Waverley.

We have received an overall Outstanding rating from the CQC We are investing in our colleagues through our health and wellbeing programme and a commitment to supporting professional development as well as investing more than £45 million in our physical environment and new equipment in the next few years.

There has never been a better time to join us.
