Director of Strategy

Very Senior Manager

Job overview

We are looking for an exceptional person to join us to lead our engagement with the Surrey Heartlands ICS, Guildford and Waverley Place and the Trust Provider Collaborative to shape our collective clinical strategy. This role will ensure that our organisational strategy and key priorities are clearly defined and articulated, and are then translated into delivery plans through our business planning process.

Do you have a track record in developing organisational, and preferably system-wide strategies that work across organisational boundaries and have the ability to take complex, multiple-source information and data and turn this into organisational or system actions?  You must also have experience of leading and determining organisational development priorities.

Main duties of the job

Reporting to the Chief Executive and working closely with the wider board, you will provide strategic leadership to the Trust, and develop and connect plans across the Trust to enable the delivery of the overarching organisational strategy. Collaborative working has never been more important, so you will build trusted relationships with partners and systems, ensuring that we realise shared ambitions and progressive transformational development can be achieved.

Working for our organisation

Royal Surrey is a compassionate and collaborative acute and community Trust. Recognising that our 5000 colleagues are our greatest strength, we offer a comprehensive health and wellbeing programme along with a commitment to developing and advancing your career. Our diverse and welcoming Royal Surrey family will ensure that you feel valued from your initial interview through your entire tenure.

We are clinically led and provide joined up care by bridging the gap between hospital and community services alongside regional specialist cancer care. Our main acute hospital site is in Guildford with community hospital sites at Milford, Haslemere and Cranleigh. We provide adult community health services in homes across Guildford and Waverley.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) have given the Royal Surrey hospital  an overall rating of Outstanding.

Royal Surrey has a strong reputation and history to build on. We are proud of our achievements and we are investing in our colleagues through our commitment to supporting professional development as well as investing more than £45 million in our physical environment and new equipment in the next few years. There has never been a better time to join us.

Although it isn't the Trusts normal practice, adverts may close early, so you are encouraged to submit an application as soon as possible.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The role of Director of Strategy will also have responsibility for leading the Trust’s sustainability and Net Zero plans, as well as acting as the Board lead for Research and Development.  You will lead and co-ordinate our system-wide learning, scanning good practice and innovation inside and outside of the NHS to make recommendations for future development.

Whilst there is an expectation that this role will be based onsite, flexible / agile working arrangements will be considered including working from home one day per week.
