•        Work collaboratively across Surrey and Sussex and other referring regions to deliver safe, effective and timely access to cancer services

•        Drive improvements in delivery of the cancer services, focusing on improvements across all parts of the patient pathway

•        Improve cancer patients' experience through the delivery of excellence in clinical care, research, and education

•        Support the Clinical Leads in setting standards and providing quality assurance of cancer services across the Surrey and Sussex system

•        Lead the implementation of integrated services and pathways locally through collaborative work across the Surrey and Sussex system and promote a sense of collective responsibility across partners

•        To support this ambitious agenda, the Surrey and Sussex Cancer Alliance, (covering 3.2 million people), has successfully secured significant national transformation funding with which to review, redesign and improve clinical services with a focus on earlier cancer stage diagnosis, shorter waiting times and continuous improvements in holistic and equitable patient care.

•        As a Programme Manager, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the Surrey and Sussex region.

•        The Programme Manager will lead a range of initiatives that will improve and transform the experience and outcomes for cancer patients across Surrey and Sussex. 

•        The Programme Manager will work with system leaders from across all healthcare sectors to drive forward evidenced based and clinically led improvements and embed best practice within patient pathways. This role will work to identify issues and devise solutions across all stages of the patient pathway through primary care, diagnostics, treatment and post treatment.

•        Crucially, the post holder will work responsively and flexibly, both at Trust level and at Cancer Alliance level, to ensure improvements can be delivered at pace within a complex stakeholder environment.

•        The Programme Manager will have expertise in programme delivery and will come together with other managers and senior leaders to provide expert guidance and direct support (through coaching, recommendations, facilitation and advice) in the delivery of NHS Cancer Standards.
