Leading, developing and delivering cancer education across Frimley, Surrey and Sussex to improve patient experience across the whole cancer pathway

 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The Cancer Education Programme aims to provide education for professionals working with patients and clients with cancer across Surrey and Sussex.  The Cancer Education Programme Manager will provide leadership for the existing programme whilst developing and updating the programme to meet the changing educational needs across the Alliance.

They will work as the lead manager and educational facilitator to deliver the aims of the programme and will have line management responsibility for the Cancer Education Facilitators.

The post holder will work closely with professionals across Surrey and Sussex to benchmark and map the areas of current practice requiring improvement, implement change through service improvement and education. The post holder will work with colleagues in primary, community and secondary care to provide advice and education to improve their knowledge, skills and confidence in supporting people affected by cancer.

 

The post holder, in collaboration with health and care professionals, will design and deliver a rolling programme of improvement and education to ensure that all health and care professionals can effectively support cancer patients throughout their cancer journey. 

The post holder will work to build relationships, communication and collaboration between services and support co-design of solutions to improve support and care. They will design and implement feedback strategies to ensure training and education is delivered to a high standard.

Surrey and Sussex Cancer Alliance (SSCA) are excited to be expanding their Cancer Education Programme and are looking to recruit to a number of positions on the team. 

The established Cancer Education Programme delivers education to professionals in health and social care services across Surrey and Sussex.  The aim of the programme is to increase the knowledge and confidence of professionals working with patients and clients who are living with and beyond cancer.  Courses include ‘foundations in cancer care’, ‘cancer as a long-term condition’, supporting patients across the cancer pathway’, ‘living with and beyond breast cancer’ and many more.

We welcome applications for our Cancer Education Programme Manager.  You will be responsible for the delivery of the existing courses and the development of new courses to complement the programme.

·         experience of leading and motivating a team

·         delivered clinical training to professionals

·         experience developing training courses to meet identified learning needs

  • Educated to master’s level, equivalent qualification or substantial relevant experience in health or health care related subject.
  • Extensive experience of developing and delivering education
  • Evidence of post qualifying and ongoing continued professional development.

Knowledge

  • Understanding of the background to and aims of current cancer healthcare policy in England and appreciate the implications of this on the programme.
  • Comprehensive experience of programme and project principles and techniques/tools e.g., Managing Successful Programmes, Prince II or Agile.
  • Experience of leading service improvement across organisational boundaries and multi-agency working.
  • Experience of facilitating learning in clinical practice
  • Experience of engaging diverse teams in service improvement and development.
  • Experience of designing and delivering evaluation of a project of service improvement.
  • Experience of identifying and interpreting national policy.
Meini prawf dymunol
  • Experience of researching best practice (globally, private and public sector), interpreting its relevance and processes/practices which could be implemented successfully to achieve system reform (advising on policy implementation).
  • Experience of using AI and other technologies to develop and deliver training
