A part-time opportunity has arisen to join our Dietetics Department at The Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust on a fixed term contact (maternity leave cover) to be a part of our Nutrition Support Team. The post holder will be required to work on Mondays and Wednesday in line with the needs of the service, the third day is flexible.
We are looking for somebody with excellent communication and organisational skills. You will be working alongside our multi-disciplinary team of dietitians, pharmacists, gastroenterologists, specialist nurses, and biochemists.

Main duties of the job
This post is shared across delivering the nutritional element of the nutrition support service for patients at The Royal Surrey Hospital. You will have the opportunity to develop skills in indirect calorimetry and you will also be involved in delivering education sessions to healthcare professionals.
You will join a forward thinking dietetic team which undertakes the training of A, B and C placement students, and also focuses on research and audit in its areas of activity to promote clinical effectiveness in patient care. You will be encouraged to develop both personally and professionally, with the chance to shadow and learn from specialist dietitians.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To take the lead role and responsibility to provide a high quality dietetic service to patients requiring parenteral nutrition support across surgical, medical and oncology specialties. To support the Nutrition Support Team (NST) in developing the nutrition service to the Trust from a dietetic perspective.
The postholder will be an integral member of the nutrition support team (NST) at the RSCH. The postholder will be responsible for leading and providing specialist assessment, management and education for adult patients requiring parenteral nutrition. To assist HPB/ICU/NST Team Lead with the clinical supervision and development of junior members of the department and students. The post holders working days must include Monday and Wednesday to coincide with Nutrition Team ward rounds.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc in Dietetics or equivalent and registration with HCPC
Desirable criteria
- Hold, or be working towards a Master’s degree or other post-grad course to masters level, or equivalent qualification by experience
- Hold, or be working towards a supplementary prescribing qualification
- To have successfully completed the PENG course
- Member of the British Dietetics Association
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Significant post registration dietetic experience of managing patients on artificial nutrition support
- Experience in surgery and post operative care
- Evidence of continuing professional development and advancement of knowledge
- Experience of clinical audit and/ or research
- Experience in clinical supervision of dietetic students and willingness to participate in student training
Desirable criteria
- Contribution to management of staff i.e. supervision/development of staff, recruitment
- Experience in service development
- Membership of relevant specialist groups such as PENG or Dietitians in Critical Care (DCC)

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
