We have a full time career-developing opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated dietitian to join our medical team. You will be a part of an award winning, proactive dietetic department at The Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust in Guildford.
If you have some clinical experience and want to be able to further develop this in an acute medical setting as well having the opportunity to start developing your skills with service development and support the supervision of Band 5 Dietitians and students, then this post will be well suited for you.
You will join a forward thinking dietetic team which undertakes the training of A, B and C placement students, and also focuses on research and audit in its areas of activity to promote clinical effectiveness in patient care. Main duties of the job
You will have a very varied caseload and will work within several MDTs providing support to both inpatients and outpatients. We are looking for someone who is proactive and has the initiative to develop and / or improve the efficiency of services. You will be involved in delivering education sessions to healthcare professionals and patients as well as assisting in the coordinating of the nutrition strategy across the Trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination and smooth delivery of the general inpatient and outpatient service at The Royal Surrey County Hospital (RSCH). This will include both oral and enteral nutrition support across several specialities. Other key features of this varied job include coordinating the nutrition strategy across the Trust and supervision of Band 5 and student dietitians.
The post holder will lead the general medical team. . The team consists of three Band 5 dietitians and this post, having responsibility for general medical and surgical inpatients and outpatients. As the Band 6, the
post holder will be expected to coordinate the day to day running of the team, as well as seeing the more complex patients. In addition, the post holder will support the other speciality teams in the department (oncology, Head & Neck, HPB, Gastro, critical care etc) by seeing some of their inpatient caseload on a rotational basis. The post holder will have an active role in teaching other professionals, including students and patients. Monitoring and actively improving nutritional care across the Trust will be a key feature of the post. A considerate, patient focussed service will be provided in all dealings with patients and with staff around the hospital
Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc in Dietetics or equivalent and registration with HCPC
- Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
- Member of the British Dietetics Association
- Membership of BDA specialist group
- Driving licence
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Evidence of post qualification experience including nutrition support and enteral feeding
- Evidence of MDT work
- Evidence of ability to manage complex clinical presentations
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of experience in specialities including women’s health and general surgery.
- Experience of training/supporting others (including students) within specialist clinical area
- Work in acute and community settings

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
