An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Oncology Specialty Doctor to join the Oncology team at St Luke’s Cancer Centre at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust (RSFT), for a 24 month fixed-term contract.

The successful applicant will be based at the Royal Surrey in Guildford providing a high level of medical care to the Oncology patients in the outpatient clinics.  The job plan will involve travelling to our local outreach partner oncology sites to provide clinic cover, as well as working on the Guildford site.

There will be an expectation to work within the tumour group teams, covering the service, where required.  This may require travelling to any of our outreach partner sites.  Excellent communication and team working will be required with the tumour teams.    The post holder will also be required to cover regular on call duties, as per the contract.

This is a 10 PA post consisting of outpatient clinics, ward work, AOS, MDT meetings, radiotherapy and chemotherapy prescribing.  In order to fulfil the responsibilities of this post you must be eligible for full GMC registration.  This is a new post within the department and will be a permanent appointment.

Specifically adopt, in conjunction with colleagues, an active role in the delivery of the Oncology service for the Division. Provide direct input to patient care, contribute to multi-disciplinary teams and participate in the delivery and development of management strategies for routine Oncology conditions, both elective and emergency. Assume a continuous commitment for the care of patients, even if employed less than full-time and ensure that adequate arrangements are made for leave and off duty periods. Promote high professional standards of clinical care for patients, both through direct patient care and by the maintenance of continuing professional development.
