Job overview

The post holder will lead a design team and will be responsible for the quality of the digital products delivered. Using knowledge of the users needs and the Trusts strategic direction to frame problems and set priorities for the design teams. They will work with Clinicians, Trust management, staff and relevant NHS and external parties to ensure that the definition, creation and development from the design team is of a high quality and meets the changing demands on healthcare.

The trust utilises Digital Teams working in an agile scrum framework with a strong focus on user centred design and user experience. The postholder must have knowledge of and support this methodology.

They will ensure that the roadmaps for the design teams align with the Trust priorities, optimise Trust investments and deliver aligned clinical service and outcome improvements.

Main duties of the job

Main duties include:

  • Leading and managing an agile-scrum design team in the delivery of digital products.
  • Develops and manages the Digital Transformation portfolio including the vision and roadmap.
  • To align Digital Transformation projects to the Trust business priorities ensuring maximum benefit is achieved from all spend on EPR and related products and services.
  • Provide reports in relation to KPIs of the design teams; provide recommendations on methods of improvement and implement improvement plans in a timely manner.
  • Line manage and create synergy between the Digital Teams.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Has a demonstrative experience working at a high level and able to learn new ways to continually improve how we deliver the requirements of the stakeholder. They will recognise when something does not work and encourage a mindset of experimentation. They will adapt and reflect, be resilient and have the ability to see outside of the process.

The person will be skilled in defining, delivering and understanding concepts within a complex environment and implement best practice aligned to the development of the digital solution.

This role will suit someone who likes a challenge and who wants to drive forward improvements that help deliver better care to the people who use our services.

Other key responsibilities of the role are:

·       Manage the continuing need to improve and develop digital solutions that support clinical pathways across the Trust.

·       Lead and promote the Trusts digital strategy and clinical agenda in the Trust encouraging engagement from all levels of the hierarchy and a clear vision for digital solutions to support improvement and innovation in clinical pathways.

·       Ensures that changes and developments are aligned to a logical defined and understood standard resulting in an efficient and simplified user experience whilst maintaining data integrity.

·       Work closely with Digital Operations and Services to ensure smooth transition of projects to Business as Usual activities, ensuring enough resource and knowledge is present.

·       Offer consultancy on digital solutions that support clinical pathways on related projects and to stakeholders, advising on all matters relating to digital transformation including impact of change and appropriate alignment of resources.

·       Contribute to and support the continuous development of the Trust Digital strategy, supporting periodic reviews to ensure that the strategy is being delivered and that it is aligned to the changing healthcare environment.

·       Provide advice and take action, where necessary, in response to audit findings and recommendations in respect of EPR and related products and services.

·       Lead the development of business cases and bids where EPR is involved, providing a quality check ensuring that all costs are identified and that expected benefits are capable of being achieved and delivered.

·       Managing relationships with key 3rd party suppliers of digital services and other external parties.

·       Management of budgets (£500k+) and maintaining compliance with standing financial instructions

·       Oversee the procurement of Digital services and supplies, ensuring that procurement processes are followed and that value for money is obtained.

·       Provide management cover for other Digital Teams as required including deputising for the Associate Director of Digital Transformation.
