Job overview

Consultant Anaesthetist with interest in Chronic Pain Medicine

We are looking to appoint a full-time Consultant Anaesthetist with interest in Chronic Pain Medicine. The job plan comprises of a weekly average of 7 PAs of clinical work spread over specialties, 1.4 PAs for on call and 1.5 SPAs. Further job plan details can be found within the job description.

Main duties includes: 

  • Deliver and maintain highest clinical standards in the specialty of anaesthesia and chronic pain 
  • Play an active role in clinical governance and audit, supporting a culture of continuous improvement and learning
  • Maintain high standards of continuing professional development and medical education
  • Deliver quality teaching and training
  • To teach and mentor trainees.
  • To contribute to quality improvement; risk management initiatives and policy development so that the overall Anaesthesia Service is of the highest quality and reflective of best practice.
  • To participate in work related projects.
  • To adhere to Hospital Policies and Procedures.
  • To comply with Health and Safety Regulations, ensuring safe working practices in a safe working environment

Main duties of the job

We are immensely proud of the Trust’s Outstanding status and the successful candidate will join a department that is friendly, engaged and provides excellent training and mentor support. The team comprises of 40 Consultants, 11 SAS Grades, up to 16 Trainees, 3 Acute Pain Nurses and 4 administrative staff.  The successful appointee will work as an integral part of the team and have equal access to junior staff.
