Job overview

We have a vacancy  for a 0.5 wte band 8a Senior Clinical/Counselling Psychologist at Reigate and Tandridge CMHRS (Community Recovery Team).  In our Community Mental Health Recovery Service (CMHRS) we see adults with complex, severe, and enduring mental health problems. The principles and philosophy of care are based on the recovery model and NICE evidenced-based interventions. The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of highly specialist psychology services for this client group. He/she would be working closely with other psychologists in the team and with multi-disciplinary  team members and other teams, such as, the Home Treatment Teams and Inpatient services. He/she would be involved in the assessment and assigning of clients to specific care clusters and offering evidence-based psychological interventions within each care cluster. 
This is an exciting time to join SABP as we are at the forefront of developing services and are working closely with NHS England to develop and test out new models of care. We have received additional funding to transform our community and crisis services and you will be joining us at an interesting and exciting time in NHS Mental Health Services.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities 

  • To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of clinical work and To maintain high standards of care in all areas of practice in accordance with the HCPC Code of Conduct, professional guidelines and Trust Policies and Procedures. To act within the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act (2005). To be aware of and implement Safeguarding Adult and Child Protection Policies, Procedures and legislation.
  • To carry out comprehensive psychological and cognitive assessments and formulation, plan implement and evaluate delivery of psychology interventions and consultations to support people with specific and complex needs.
  • To actively involve people in developing and agreeing their own care plan, to act as an advocate and ensure that there is proper regard for their dignity, choice, self-esteem, racial, cultural, sexual and religious needs and preferences
  • To work creatively to adapt verbal and written communication to meet the needs of people who use our services
  • To undertake comprehensive risk assessments and develop effective risk management plans for people with complex needs.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology qualification or equivalent
  • Must be HCPC registered psychologist
Desirable criteria
  • Any additional therapeutic qualifications e.g. EMDR, advanced CBT, advanced psychosis.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience across a range of psychological models including systemic, behavioural and individual therapeutic
  • Experience of supervising assistant and trainee clinical psychologists

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
