Job overview
The Rapid Response Team is seeking a highly skilled and clinically motivated Senior Resuscitation Practitioner to join our service at Frimley Health covering Wexham Park Hospital.
The Rapid Response Team team supports the clinical care of all patients who are risk of deterioration or other immediately life-threatening events or risk of, suffering a cardiac arrest.
As the successful candidate you will have experience in the management of medical emergencies and in the development and implementation of resuscitation policies and procedures. You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills

Main duties of the job
This is a clinically focused, education, research and clinical leadership role at Frimley Health.
The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day provision of resuscitation services across Frimley Health.
The post holder will ensure a clinically focused, clinician specific resuscitation and/or emergency care based training as directed by the Rapid Response Team Matron. The post holder will ensure effective day-to-day management of the resuscitation services.
To be a clinical member of the Medical Emergency teams covering Cardiac arrests and NEWS calls will require the post holder to work weekends, evenings and night shifts as required for a 24hr seven day service delivery.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
· Take responsibility for allocated hospital site to ensure proactive training, to meet the needs of the organisation.
· To ensure a flexible training programme is in place to meet the needs of the trust.
· Ensure a robust system in place for all staff groups in Resuscitation
· Ensure accurate records of resuscitation training are kept.
· Lead in the provision of the Resuscitation Council (UK) Immediate Life Support Course
· Support in the provision of the Paediatric Life Support Courses (ALSG or equivalent)
· Assist in the admin/organisational duties/support as required for the Resuscitation Council (UK) Advanced Life Support Course
· Provide admin/organisational support to the Medical Director for the Royal College of Surgeon’s Advanced trauma Life Support Course
· Identify staff who would benefit from attendance at more advanced training.
· Provide scenario based training for medical ‘on-call’ groups as part of a rolling programme developing key skills of junior doctors and team leadership/decision-making skills of registrars
· Develop training solutions to meet needs of the Trust concentrating on e-learning based systems
Audit/Research
· To lead and assist in the collection and storage of clinical data pertinent to the ongoing deteriorating patient and resuscitation audit process.
· To identify local audits where areas of specific resuscitation/emergency care activity require or would benefit from a clinical review.
· Work in conjunction with the Patient Safety Team to collect data relating to
topics relevant to the deteriorating patient, Resuscitation and relevant National patient safety alerts.
· Where appropriate undertake research projects in resuscitation and deteriorating patient, which will support evidence based practise.
· Actively partake in local, national and international research projects as appropriate.
Professional and Clinical
· The post holder will be wholly accountable for their actions and will act at all times in accordance with the NMC/HCPC Code of Professional Conduct
· To have the ability to prioritise own workload
· To work with other colleagues on relevant clinical governance activities
· Provide post incident debriefing to staff and identify areas for improvement
· To attend emergency calls when acting in a clinical capacity and when other duties permit – attending as an active team member and provide support and leadership in the absence of a team leader
Additional/Managerial Roles
· Provide Support to the Lead Nurse for Deteriorating patient and Resuscitation and Matron
· To deputise for the Matron at various directorate and corporate meetings as and when required

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Adult Practitioner NMC/HCPC registration
- BSc (Hons) in relevant subject or equivalent
- Post registration qualification in Critical Care Nursing or equivalent Acute Care course
- Teaching and Assessing/Mentoring qualification
- ALS instructor or working towards
- Physical assessment course or working towards at level 7
Desirable criteria
- MSc or working towards
- ALS course director
- Non – medical prescribing or working towards
- APLS/EPALS instructor or working towards
Experience
Essential criteria
- Minimum of 3 years Band 6 critical care /Acute Care experience in a comparable unit
- Experience in providing formal teaching.
Desirable criteria
- Previous Resuscitation practitioner experience
Competencies
Essential criteria
- Able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care with minimal supervision
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to manage difficult/stressful situations and work under pressure
- Effectively communicate with all levels of the organisation
- Good IT skills
