Data Quality Assurance Officer

Job overview

In support of the Trust’s Data Quality Initiative to improve the quality of data entered onto current and future administration systems the Information Directive is seeking to recruit a full time permanent member of staff to support the work within the Data Quality Assurance Department.

The post will be a supportive role to assist the Data Quality Assurance Department to help operational areas across the Trust in the improvement of all aspects of Data Quality, completeness and assurance.

The candidate will be required to work with operational staff in both an advisory and practical role. Have the ability to analyse data quality validation reports to maintain continued improvement in data quality for all operational activity across the Trust.

Ideally have a NHS background, good IT skills and some knowledge of the Summary Care Record Application (SCRa) would be advantageous, but where appropriate, IT system training within the Trust can be arranged.

The candidate will need to demonstrate excellent communication and customer skills.  When required represent the department at local meetings to discuss data quality matters.  An ability to analyse, gather and dissect data. Highly desirable is an aptitude to organise, prioritise own work as well as the ability to work effectively within a specialist team.

Main duties of the job

  • Use appropriate daily/weekly/monthly scheduled reports to resolve data errors  
  • Support the EPIC programme  
  • Resolve duplicated and confused patient records   
  • Contact colleagues across sites to resolve errors  Assist with annual audit for Inpatient/Outpatient/Waiting List   
  • Assist the running of  weekly nhs no tracing process   
  • Monthly data Challenges   Support staff to resolve duplicated records within Cancer / Acute Services  
  • Keep accurate data spreadsheets    
  • Ability to use IT programmes related to the role

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Health Record & Information Management (IHRIM) or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • NVQ level 4 or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • ECDL level or equivalent
  • General good standard of education equivalent to 5 GCSES including English & Maths

Experience

Essential criteria
  • In depth knowledge of Patient Administration Systems or equivalent
  • Proven experience of NHS structure and interdependencies
  • Mentoring and training of colleagues and staff
  • Experience of following processes and checking validity of the process and resultant data items
  • Proven knowledge of Information Governance Laws ie FOI, Data Protection Act etc.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of NHS PAS systems across a range of data sets
  • Knowledge of CRS, NACS and NHS Data dictionary
