Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team in Christiansen Unit , a 16-18 bedded general medical ward.

The ward provides care for patients with various general medical conditions hence a good opportunity for you to be involved with patients from the various specialities. It also got accredited "BRONZE" during the recent accreditation. 

Main duties of the job

As Staff Nurse, you will be working closely with the Junior sister, Senior Sister and Matron, playing an integral role in driving changes with a range of comprehensive orientation and support.

We can offer you a range of management and leadership development opportunities to support you in this role. Essential skills key to this role are implementing and maintaining high clinical standards whilst caring for patients, enhancing staff personal development, providing guidance, support and expertise to clinical staff.

Essential criteria
  • Current (or pending) NMC Registration (first or second level).
Desirable criteria
  • Dementia course or study days

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Self-motivated and uses own initiative
  • Able to work as an effective team member
  • Awareness of current professional nursing issues
  • Ability to manage change within the working environment
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in caring for elderly patients who have dementia
  • Previous managing patients with chronic conditions

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Time management and delegation skills
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to manage difficult / stressful situations
  • Able to prioritise workload (self and others) and meet deadlines
