Come and join our amazing Ward 5 team as a Staff Nurse
 
Ward 5 is a 36 bedded Endocrine and Medical ward serving  24 hour nursing care to all our patients. We have a brilliant and friendly team of nurses, carers, consultants, doctors, housekeepers and ward host/hostess. 
 
We are well supported by our multi-disciplinary team consisting of our dedicated discharge coordinator, hard-working physiotherapists and occupational therapists, dedicated dietician and speech & language therapist, who will work with you, your patients and your patient's family or carers.
 
We also work hand in hand with the diabetes nursing team, tissue viability specialist nursing team, amputee rehabilitation team, vascular team and the foot care team.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without direct supervision. To work as part of a team of nurses, health care assistants, doctors and multi-disciplinary team e.g. diabetic specialist nurses, OT, PT, TVN, podiatry, etc and be responsible for the assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating of nursing care of our patients.

  • Current NMC Registration
Desirable criteria
  • Diabetes Course
  • Mentorship course or similar

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Some post registration experience
  • Experience of managing patients with chronic medical conditions
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in caring for Endocrine/Diabetic patients

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Self-motivated and uses own initiative
  • Able to work as an effective team member
  • Ability to manage change within the working environment
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to manage difficult / stressful situations
  • Able to train and supervise Junior staff
Desirable criteria
  • Nurse in charge competency
  • EPIC familiar or IT skills

Special Requirements

Essential criteria
  • To work in other areas of the department when required
  • Able to work flexible shifts, weekends and bank holidays as required
