This is an exciting opportunity to  join our POSCU Enhanced Level A  team as a  Paediatric Oncology Nurse.

You will be a kind, compassionate, professional and caring nurse with previous experience of caring for children and their families with these conditions, working in an MDT.

You will be providing support for families with on Oncology diagnosis, working alongside the Paediatric Oncology CNS and the wider MDT

The role will also involve providing teaching and support to staff on Ward 24,  Children's Ward and in  the Paediatric Outpatients Department.

You will require a basic knowledge of oncological conditions and supportive care, however further support and development will be provided.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To assist the Paediatric Oncology CNS to co-ordinate care and services from diagnosis through to transition into adult services for children and their families with an Oncology Diagnosis.  The post-holder is to ensure that the children and families receive the highest quality of care, support and experience within agreed protocols and allocated resources together with the clinical lead and the wider Haematology /Oncology Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) within the Paediatric Oncology Shared Care Unit (POSCU) at Wexham Park.

To support children, young people and their parents in meeting their own health and well being needs through the provision of age/developmental appropriate information, education, advice and support

 To be an expert resource who provides sound clinical advice and judgement to children, young people and their families, nurses and junior doctors.

  • NMC Registration Part 8 or 15 – Children’s Nursing
  • Chemotherapy administration qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Oncology Qualification

  • Previous experience of working in a MDT
  • Previous experience of caring for children with cancer
Desirable criteria
  • Palliative and end of life care experience
  • Knowledge of Childhood Cancer treatments and pathways
