Clinical Matron Paediatrics

An  exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and committed Nurse to join the Paediatric team at Wexham Park  as Clinical Matron for Paediatrics. 

This role encompasses a 29 bedded Paediatric ward with an adjacent 7 bedded Paediatric assessment unit, the Childrens ambulatory and children's outpatient department (CACOU) together with the Paediatric community services.   

 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

To lead the development and implementation of strategies and work plans that align with Trust-wide objectives, ensuring they address the unique needs of children, young people, and their families within the paediatric service.

Ensure the delivery of high-quality care by implementing, monitoring, and reviewing clinical standards. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to identify areas for improvement and develop action plans to enhance patient engagement, safety, and outcomes.

Provide strong and effective leadership by setting, monitoring, and maintaining professional standards within the paediatric service. Work collaboratively to address and manage complaints while leading the nursing contribution to clinical governance at the specialty or departmental level in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Strategy.

  • Registered Nurse
  • Masters level or equivalent level of study/experience
  • Recognised leadership & development training

Experience

  • Significant experience at senior clinical/managerial level
  • Evidence of on-going professional development in the specified nursing field of practice
  • Significant experience of working as a clinical leader in the specified nursing field of practise

  • In-depth experience in a variety of hospital units
  • Involvement in clinical audit and/or research

Knowledge and skills

  • Understands the concepts of clinical governance and shared governance including evidence- based practice and critical appraisal of research findings.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of effective risk management
  • Knowledge of current NHS issues including performance targets and the wider health economy.
  • Knowledge and experience of management models, implementing change and/or new clinical practices and current professional issues.
  • Effective communicator with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understand principles of effective budgetary management and demonstrate experience of managing budgets.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own workload
