Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the PACS team at Wexham Park Hospital for an enthusiastic individual who will be responsible for the day to day operational administration of PACS and radiology end user support.

We are looking for an energetic individual to support a range of radiology IT systems with experience in delivering quality service in a fast paced environment.

Working alongside both clinicians and IT specialists you will be involved with the management of the radiology PACS system, and also working with our many third party modality vendors and application software suppliers to make sure  their systems are working optimally throughout the trust.

As well as experience of managing and maintaining radiology information systems, you should demonstrate proven team working and communication skills, be self-motivated, well organised and have a high standard of professionalism in order to deal with working in a every busy imaging department.

Main duties of the job

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Provide administration and first line support for the Imaging Systems including Radiology PACS

• Forge relationships with users in clinical, research and corporate environments

• Work with users, suppliers, and IT/Networking staff to resolve issues in a timely fashion.

• Coordinating the secure transfer of clinical digital content to clinical institutions

• Support the interoperability between the imaging systems and other Trust systems including EPIC (EPR)

• With the Supplier, contribute to monitoring of the service contracts for the systems that they support

• Extract, process, and manipulate complex and sensitive information using a range of tools

• Required to use of a variety of core knowledge bases

• Provide advice and technical help on projects involving imaging systems that they are responsible for. 

• Contribute to the planning, management, co-ordination of testing and implementation of application upgrades

• Attend meetings concerning the systems including clinical user group meetings and super-user meetings.

• Deliver specialist training to other clinical/non-clinical staff, where necessary.

• Sometimes be required to participate in upgrades and end to end testing out-of-hours.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The role will be to provide day-to-day administration of the PACS system and supporting software and hardware to ensure that all elements remain fully functional for clinical use. This will include training, optimisation of the system, proactive system checks and quality control.

 To be an effective member of the PACS and RIS team providing the day-to-day management of the PACS and RIS service.

 

To supervise PACS and RIS administrators working within the department in a number of IT support functions.

 

To liaise and work closely with the Frimley PACS team based on the Frimley Park sites.

 

To liaise with the IT and Epic Applications Team based at Wexham Park Hospital for efficient and effective delivery of this service.

 

Responsible for the integrity, content and safe use and security of the databases.
