Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a multi-disciplinary team and develop new skills in the world of Radiology. The successful candidate will involve working on a  rota, some extended days and weekends.

You will support the work of the Radiology Department to assist Radiologists and Radiographers in performing a range of Radiological procedures, including  Ultrasound and CT.

We have a new state of the art Emergency Department which opened in April 2019 with dedicated DR X Ray rooms, Ultrasound and a CT scanner. The successful applicant will be expected to rotate into this area from the main X-Ray department, US and CT

 

Main duties of the job

  • To assist in all aspects of patient care with in the Radiology department.
  • To assist with housekeeping duties i.e. cleaning specialist equipment.
  • To make up slides of biopsy samples for microscopic examination by Histology / Pathology.
  • To work cross-site between Wexham Park hospital in Slough, Heatherwood Hospital Ascot , King Edwards VII in Windsor and St Marks in Maidenhead as and when required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To maintain privacy and dignity of all patients in the department.
  • To ensure patient care needs are recognised and addressed while in Radiology department e.g.: reassurance, toilet requirements
  • To assists patients with undressing and preparation for Radiological examinations.
  • To act as a chaperone for patients as required.
  • To clean radiological equipment as per departmental procedures.
  • To assist patients and staff with the specific tests and examinations carried out in the Radiology department.

Essential criteria
  • To be able to care for patients.
  • Ability to work in a Team.
  • Be able to work to strict deadlines in a busy clinical environment
  • Able to input accurate data on Information Systems.
  • Able to communicate with a wide range of people
  • To be sympathetic and caring to patient needs
  • To be able to talk to patients and listen empathetically whilst working in a busy clinical environment.

  • Previous experience in a similar post or dealing with the public in a caring environment.
