Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a proactive and hardworking Estates Maintenance Assistant to support the smooth operation of our hospital facilities. This role is essential in ensuring a safe, efficient, and well-maintained environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Main duties of the job

What You’ll Do:
βœ”οΈ Carry out semi-skilled maintenance tasks across hospital sites
βœ”οΈ Conduct plant room checks and monitor essential systems
βœ”οΈ Assist technicians and engineers with maintenance and repair work
βœ”οΈ Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards

What We’re Looking For:
πŸ”Ή Basic knowledge of maintenance tasks (electrical, plumbing, mechanical, or building services)
πŸ”Ή Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions
πŸ”Ή Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
πŸ”Ή Willingness to learn and develop within an NHS Estates team

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

βœ”οΈ Drainage Services & Maintenance Checks – Maintain all drainage systems and carry out planned maintenance tasks
βœ”οΈ Semi-Skilled Maintenance – Assist with general upkeep and minor repairs
βœ”οΈ Support Technicians – Work alongside skilled professionals to complete essential maintenance tasks
βœ”οΈ Shift Work & Flexibility – Participate in a rotating shift system, including late shifts & weekends
βœ”οΈ Workplace Housekeeping – Ensure cleanliness and organization in workshops, stores, and working areas
βœ”οΈ Job Docket Completion – Accurately record and complete maintenance jobs in a timely manner
βœ”οΈ Team Support & KPIs – Help meet team targets, including the number of jobs completed per day
βœ”οΈ Health & Safety Commitment – Promote and maintain safe working practices for yourself and others
βœ”οΈ Customer Care & Trust Values – Provide excellent service and uphold the trust’s values in every aspect of your work

Qualifications and experience

Essential criteria
  • Level 2 trade qualification
  • Previous building maintenance experience
  • IT Competent
Desirable criteria
  • NHS experience
  • Knowledge of drainage systems
  • Basic Plumbing knowledge
  • First aid training

Essential criteria
  • To have previous experience working in a healthcare environment
Desirable criteria
  • To have previous NHS experience

Communication Skills
