Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team of therapists and rehabilitation assistants to
provide specialist neurological intervention to enable and rehabilitate patients registered
with GP’s within Sutton CCG.
• To provide rehabilitation to patients with a range of neurological diagnoses who meet
the Community Neuro Services criteria.
• To have clinical responsibility for assessment and treatment planning of a caseload of
clients within the community, including those based in residential and nursing home
facilities.
• To develop a high level of clinical skill in community rehabilitation and longer term
management of disability and impairment.
• To provide comprehensive occupational therapy intervention to clients in the
community, making use of treatment facilities where appropriate.
• To be responsible for a clinical caseload working within a multi-disciplinary team ensuring
clients and carers receive optimum level of therapy within available resources.
• To carry out assessments, plan and implement agreed goal orientated occupational
therapy intervention with client/carers in an appropriate community setting.
• To carry out multi-disciplinary screening assessment and discuss outcomes with team
members.

 

 

 

 

 

 

A – Adult EEG’s

 

To be competent in performing and reporting on the following to a high standard

To perform routine calibration and maintenance on equipment

To take a clear and concise clinical history.

 

  • Routine adult EEG’s both in the department and on the ward, including ITU
  • Sleep Deprived EEG’s in the department

 

 

 

B – Paediatric EEG’s

 

To have some experience in performing and reporting on the following to a high standard. Also need some experience in dealing with children with special needs, challenging behaviour and autism.

To take a clear and concise clinical history.

To perform routine calibration  and maintenance on equipment

 

  • Routine paediatric EEG’s in the department and on the ward, including NNU
  • Sleep Deprived EEG’s in the department

 

 

C- Evoked Potentials

 

To have some experience in performing and reporting on the following to a high standard

To perform routine calibration maintenance on equipment

 

  • Visual Evoked Potentials (VEP)
  • Spinal and Somato-Sensory Evoked Potentials (SSEP’s)

 

 

D – Nerve Conduction Studies

 

To have some experience in performing and reporting on the following to a high standard.

To take a clear and concise clinical history.

To perform routine calibration and maintenance on equipment

 

  • Upper Limb NCS
  • Lower Limb NCS

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Operational

  1. To assist in the day to day running of the area in which they are working, ensuring that all equipment is operational and stock levels maintained.
  2. To be competent in the use of different software based applications in data entry and the reporting of investigations.
  3. To participate and develop the in-service training and technical competency of junior staff/trainees within the department.
  4. To identify adverse incidents and be aware and participate in the reporting of these as per Trusts Incident Reporting Procedures.
  5. To liaise with staff from other disciplines ensuring effective communication.

 

Resource

 

  1. To develop competency in clinical supervision and participate/carry out competency assessment on trainees and junior staff
  2. To participate in the training and supervision of trainees and junior staff
  3. To initiate and participate in clinical audit and act on it to improve the quality of the service.
  4. To ensure an effective stock control and that staff are aware of economical use of supplies and trials of new products.
  5. To maintain departmental statistical records

 

Clinical Governance

 

The post holder will need to be aware the following are in place and to work towards best practice.

 

  1. Up to date protocols and procedures
  2. Up to date patient information
  3. Effective clinical audit
  4. Clinical risk
  5. Health and Safety
  6. Infection Control

 

 

The post holder will undertake any other duties which may be reasonably regarded as within the nature of the duties, responsibilities and grade of the post as defined, subject   to the provision that appropriate training is given and that wherever possible significant changes of a permanent nature shall be mutually agreed and incorporated into the job.

To participate in Individual Performance Reviews in accordance with trust and department standards.

· To keep up-to-date with the department and Epsom & St Helier standards and policies and facilitate dissemination of this knowledge to colleagues.

· To regularly participate in in-service programmes.

· To abide by the RCOT rules of professional conduct and local professional and quality standards.

· To develop and maintain personal, clinical and managerial skills through supervision, CPD, peer support and a personal development plan agreed with the line manager/professional manager.

· To deputise for the Band 7 in their absence.

· To assist the Service Manager and other senior staff with the day-to-day running of the service, by carrying out duties as deemed necessary by the Service Manager.

· To work in accordance with the Standards and Policies issued by the RCOT, The Trust and Community Neuro Services.

· Present a positive image of Epsom & St Helier and Sutton Health & Care.

· To have responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of self and others and to comply at all times with the requirements of health and safety regulations.

· To ensure confidentiality at all times, only releasing confidential information obtained during the course of employment to those acting in an official capacity.

· To comply with the requirements of the Data Protection Act.

· To comply with the Trust’s Human Resources policies, including Equal Opportunities, Alcohol & Substance Misuse and No Smoking.

· To implement and monitor Trust and Departmental/Local Policies and Procedures as applicable to staff (supervisors and managers).

· To undertake such other duties as may be required from time to time and are consistent with the responsibilities of the grade
