Band 5 Occupational Therapist - Rotation

Band 5

Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic Therapy Services Team at Wexham Park Hospital (WPH). The post includes six-month rotations within acute, elective surgery and community settings across the following areas:

·       Medicine / Care of the Elderly

·       Orthopaedics / Surgical

·       A&E

·       Stroke / Neuro

·       Hand Therapy

·       Palliative care

The rotations give you the opportunity to work across a wide range of clinical specialties, to develop core occupational therapy skills in order to carry out complex occupational therapy assessments of functional ability, cognition, perception, home situation and psychosocial issues. You will be a key member of a large multi-disciplinary team, working together in the best interests of the patients to facilitate safe and timely discharges. You will be supported by a highly structured programme of learning and induction by experienced senior Occupational Therapists.

What our staff say:

“My OT career began a year ago and I have learnt a lot and gained skills that are helping me build a solid foundation in my career. I enjoy helping people and being able to know that I'm part of what makes a difference in someone's life, gives me joy and satisfaction.”

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to manage their own clinical caseload, supported by highly skilled Band 6 and Band 7 staff as well as supporting OT Assistants as appropriate. You will be joining a well-established interdisciplinary therapy team, who work closely with the larger multidisciplinary team.

We would welcome applications from newly qualified and experienced OT’s, including those who might be considering a Return to Practice. If you are already working as a Band 5 you will be encouraged to enhance your leadership and management skills as a development pathway to becoming a Band 6.

Excellent communication skills, a solution-focused approach, and a commitment to continuing professional development are essential to this position. It is a requirement for the post holder to participate in the 7 day working roster and bank holiday cover.

Our teams across all sites have a friendly, supportive atmosphere and a real team ethic. We know how to look after our staff - making sure they achieve the ideal work-life balance. We prioritise both excellence in practice as well as service and staff improvement and we have an OT practice development lead and clinical flow lead post holders to support with this.

Please note that we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.  Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
