An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 2 year fixed term position as a Macmillan Skin Cancer Assistant Practitioner Band 4, to work alongside the Macmillan Dermatology Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist based within Swansea Bay Dermatology services
The post holder will work as part of a designated Macmillan Dermatology Team, delivering evidence based high quality clinical care that focuses on the direct needs of the patient. The post holder will work under the direction and support of a Cancer CNS to implement the Cancer Delivery Plan for patients with Skin / Dermatological Cancer.
The post holder will manage a small defined caseload of patients under the supervision of the CNS and ensure effective communication with patients, carers, multidisciplinary team and the wider health and social care community. They will work proactively as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
The Assistant Practitioner will work alongside the Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to improve the experience of care for people with cancer. They will work within the multidisciplinary team providing support, dealing with non-complex tasks to allow registered practitioners to focus their expertise on managing patients complex care needs. They will promote self-management and provide coordination of care, utilising a person centred approach from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond.
The Assistant Practitioner will carry out clinical interventions within agreed parameters and defined protocols of care under the delegation of registered nurses within the speciality. This will include assisting in Dermatology theatres.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- Previous experience in dermatology
