Job overview

We have an opportunity for a suitably qualified Band 5 Podiatrist to join our friendly and supportive team working in the Swansea and Port Talbot area. The role will offer the opportunity to use and develop your professional skills and experience in a range of community settings. Clinic sessions will include assessing and treating a range of podiatric pathologies, wound management, referrals for nail surgery and other onward referrals, all underpinned by providing patient self-management support.

Main duties of the job

The autonomous assessment, development of treatment plans and signposting as appropriate of a wide range of patients with both routine and complex health problems. 

 Effective management of a clinical caseload of clients with complex needs using evidence based client centred principals to assess, plan, implement and evaluate podiatric interventions in community settings and other setting as required, given the changing nature of services. 
Supporting positive behavioural changes through co production and activating to empower self- management.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Training

Essential criteria
  • BSC (Hons) in Podiatric Medicine or equivalent
  • Local anaesthesia certificate
  • HCPC Registration
  • Evidence of relevant continued professional development to include all aspects of Podiatric practice
Desirable criteria
  • Prescription only medicines certificate

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Clinical experience gained as part of undergraduate training or post qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrate a broad spectrum of clinical experience

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Ability to undertake manual clinical Podiatry treatments
  • Ability to work independently within scope of banding, as well as an effective team member
  • Good organizational skills to effectively plan own workload and utilize time effectively
  • Computer literate
  • Act independently without direct supervision where appropriate to do so
Desirable criteria
  • Aptitude for clinical reasoning and possession of analytical skills and ability to think laterally
  • Ability to co-produce collaboratively agreed outcomes with patients and/or carers
  • Research and audit skills to enable regular clinical audit of service and to undertake research as part of role with presentation and publication of findings
