Our Centre of Excellence is seeking an experienced scrub practitioner, to undertake the role of Speciality Manager, within orthopaedics with particular focus on orthopaedics and Spinal surgery.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to Manage the Orthopaedic / Spinal Operating Theatre Team, supervise, assess, develop, implement and evaluate perioperative patient care and work closely with all disciplines to ensure the effective running of Orthopaedics and Spinal surgery and supported services within the health board Theatre suites

The post holder will be involved in attaining and reporting key performance indicators. The post holder will be responsible for staff deployment, supervision and teaching within the clinical areas and provide clinical and managerial leadership to Nursing/Operating Department Practitioners and support staff.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered General Nurse or Registered Operating Department Practitioner on an appropriate part of the NMC/HPC Register
  • Relevant Post Basic Theatre Course of equivalent experience
  • In possession of, or working towards an appropriate Degree
  • Demonstrate the ability to be innovative and lead change
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate an ability to teaching within the multidisciplinary team
Desirable criteria
  • Management Qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience in a operating theatre environment at Band 6 level, specific to the speciality.
  • Experience of evaluating and applying guidelines and standards to practice
  • Experience of auditing practice
  • Evidence of commitment to Teaching and Assessing

  • Experience of revision work
