Job overview

Swansea Bay University Health Board is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and driven individual to the post of Application and Data Warehouse Developer. The principal role of the post holder will be to assist in maintain the day-to-day running of the Digital Intelligence data warehouse and the production and distribution of routine reports meaning a good understanding of SQL is essential. Additionally you will be working with senior analysts to assist in the production and maintenance of our Business Intelligence solutions so an understanding of BI tools would be desirable. The position will require a good understanding of analytical and statistical techniques that can be applied to healthcare information.

This post will also support the direction of the infrastructure required in designing, developing and implementing a Digital Services Delivery Solution. The post holder will help to provide users with seamless access to information that will support service improvement and management, as well as continually seek innovative ways of using technology to support working practices and streamline processes within the Department, Directorate and the Health Board.

Main duties of the job

  • Supporting the specification, design and development of the Digital Intelligence Data Warehouse, which aims to automate, streamline and standardise data flows from clinical systems to automate the information production process through the application of available technologies.
  • The development and maintenance of innovative information reporting solutions. This will involve utilising a variety of Business Intelligence technologies, such as PowerBI, QlikView and QlikSense, with SQL Server and Microsoft Office products to support seamless access to a wide range of informatics resources and reports for SBU staff.
  • The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To assist in the provision of comprehensive information for the Health Board, ensuring the highest quality information is available to support current services. This will involve the development and maintenance of innovative information reporting solutions, utilising a variety of Business Intelligence technologies, such as PowerBI, QlikView and QlikSense, with SQL Server and Microsoft Office products to support seamless access to a wide range of informatics resources and reports for SBU staff.
  • Supporting the specification, design and development of the Digital Intelligence Data Warehouse.
  • Maintain the day-to-day running of the Digital Intelligence Data Warehouse and support specification
  • Undertake analysis of trend based data, incorporating many sources of information and aspects including where information may not be readily available. Will exercise own judgement in the assumptions made in the production of this information.
