Job overview

The post holder will work closely alongside a multidisciplinary team, including consultant cardiologists, Junior Doctors, clinical nurse specialists, the OPD team and the Patient Pathway Team to deliver a comprehensive support service for patients requiring interventional Cardiology procedures.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Cardiology Team as a Medical Secretary in Morriston Hospital.

The post holder will support Consultant Cardiologists along with the Junior Doctors / Nursing staff and Management.  The main duties consist of typing (clinics, procedure notes. reports and miscellaneous letters), maintaining accurate RTT and FUNB reporting and ensuring patients are booked in for appointments and treatment in a timely manner

The post holder will be motivated and enthusiastic and requires a proactive approach.  This role requires effective organisational skills, initiative and excellent time management with the ability to self-organise.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Educated to vocational level 4 or able to demonstrate the equivalent level of knowledge skills and experiences
  • RSA /OCR level 3 or equivalent qualification/experience plus Medical Terminology ECDL or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft office applications
  • Evidence of Continual Personal Development
Desirable criteria
  • City & Guilds (AMSPAR) Level 3 Diploma in Medical administration
  • NVQ 3 Customer Service
  • ILM Level 2
  • Knowledge of Referral To Treatment process (RTT)
