We are delighted to offer this CESR Post based at Moriston Hospital Emergency Department which are aimed at strengthening skills in Emergency Medicine. This is a fixed term post for 2 years.
The postholder will form part of a middle grade tier of 21 doctors providing 24/7 cover the ED. The average weekly working hours will be approximately 43 with 8 of these being supporting professional development.
We wish to encourage applications from candidates with specific skills or interest as we can provide dedicated time in research, educational and teaching, quality improvement, sustainability, risk management, sports medicine, minor injuries, Paediatrics, intensive care, trauma, acute and same day emergency medicine.
In addition, candidates should possess, or demonstrate progress to achieving MRCEM, ATLS, ALS, and APLS/EPLS.
A regular weekly teaching programme is available along with governance and management experience and ultrasound training.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will participate in a full shift 24/7 rota of more experienced doctors who provide support to the junior grade at Morriston ED.
During this time dedicated weekly Teaching/ study leave time will be provided in support of educational activities and participation in departmental governance and training.
You will be clinically responsible for the diagnosis, supervision and management of patients attending the ED.
You will provide initial treatment and assessment of adult and paediatric patients presenting with illness or injury and where necessary arranging for patients to be reviewed or admitted by medical staff from other specialties.
On exceptional occasions, be responsible for such irregular commitments outside normal hours as are essential for continuity of patient care.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full GMC Registration with license to practice
- MB BS or recognised equivalent
- 48 months postgraduate experience which includes 12 months emergency medicine equivalent to UK practice OR evidence of ST3 EM Competencies
- Provider status in ALS/ATLS/EPLS
Desirable criteria
- MRCEM
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of working effectively as a part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to team approach and multi-disciplinary working
- Up to date with current practices in Emergency Medicine
- Evidence of participation in, progressing and completing audit
Desirable criteria
- Liaison with other agencies
- Experience of participation in Quality Improvement
- Previous experience of working in the NHS/experience of NHS working practices and systems.
Skills
Essential criteria
- Understanding of clinical risk management and clinical governance
- Basic understanding of research methodology and demonstrates evidence of ability to learn
- Ability to take independent clinical decisions when necessary and to seek advice from senior doctors as appropriate
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of providing teaching or educational support/Understanding of educational principals
