Job overview

We are growing our Estates Team in Carlisle, Cumbria and are looking for a Joiner Maintenance Craftsperson to join us!

The Contract for this post can be offered at 37.5 hours per week or 40 hours per week, and we are happy to discuss this with the successful applicant.

Open Sessions will be held at the Carleton Clinic, in the Café lounge area:

  • Wednesday 20th November - 4pm till 6pm
  • Thursday 21st November - 12noon till 2pm

Main duties of the job

You will be required undertake planned preventative and reactive building maintenance duties. As well as minor and major refurbishment works, plus manufacturing as required across all Trust properties of the CNTW Group and other areas of responsibility.

There is potential to earn more, with enhancements offered for weekend work and on-call duties, this can be up to £2.5K more - come and chat to us to find out more.

Essential criteria
  • The post holder will have experience in service, maintenance, and repair of a range of building installations and equipment

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • The ability to use a range of mechanical equipment (drills, lathes, electric saws, etc) and vehicles including tractors, vans with trailers and other vehicle mounted equipment to highly advanced and accurate standards of dexterity and co-ordination.
  • Undertake frequent and occasionally strenuous activities such as lifting of doors, windows, movement of plant and materials, and manual digging
  • Must demonstrate good understanding of health & safety
  • Experience and understanding of other estates specialisms
  • Ability to work in confined spaces as well as at height and in other unpleasant environments
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to justify decisions and responsibility for actions

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • The post holder must have completed a recognised and registered indentured apprenticeship, with a City and Guilds Carpentry and Joinery certificate/ NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
  • A minimum of 5 GCSE or equivalent to include Maths and English
