Trosolwg o'r swydd

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time band 3 Technical Instructor to join the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team.  This post will support the Physiotherapy lead team to deliver Pulmonary Rehabilitation to patients across the city of Newcastle upon Tyne both in the community and on the various hospital sites. 
 
The Pulmonary Rehabilitation team offer a combination of face to face appointments, classes and telephone appointments for patients. The post holder will be expected to spend some of their time on the telephone both booking in patients and delivering treatment. 
 
Experience of carrying out exercise programmes and delivering basic education to a group of patients with lung disease will be beneficial.  
There is a clinical administration component to this role. Those with confident IT skills would be encouraged to apply. 
 
This is a post comprising of a clinical role within the Pulmonary rehabilitation team with some admin responsibilities
 
A valid UK Driving Licence is desired for this role. 
 
Full training is available and competencies will be carried out by the PR team.

  • To work as part of the physiotherapy team delivering physiotherapy to patients with chronic respiratory conditions
  • Work alongside physiotherapists during assessment and treatment sessions
  • Carry out office based duties
  • Support the administration team and appointment booking in as required
  • To participate in our In Service Training programme and be responsible for own life-long learning
  • To be responsible for a caseload of patients as defined by the senior
    physiotherapist in the team.
  • To prioritise own clinical caseload organising care effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical and other priorities and use of time.
  • To motivate and encourage patients active participation in all aspects of their physiotherapy care.
  • To be responsible for the exercise component of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation programmes seeking advice from a chartered physiotherapist as appropriate i.e. carry out initial assessments, deliver the exercise  and facilitate patients to work through an exercise programmes.

Swydd ddisgrifiad a phrif gyfrifoldebau manwl

  • Under the supervision of a registered Physiotherapist the Technical Instructor for Pulmonary Rehabilitation will independently manage a designated caseload of patients defined as non-complex within a specified clinical area, providing assessment and interventions on behalf of the physiotherapist within predetermined guidelines
  • Patients who are identified as complex will be managed by a registered physiotherapist
  • The role has a specific focus on Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first month’s pay.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Have experience of working as a therapy assistant.
  • Have a basic understanding of the principles of physiotherapy clinical practices and procedures within the clinical area.
  • An appreciation of the principles of physiotherapy practices and procedures
  • An understanding of manual handling principles
  • Have a basic understanding of the principles of behaviour and conduct in practice.
  • Previous experience of working as a therapy assistant
