Ward 31 is a specialist Outpatient Department at the Freeman Hospital
providing 47 dialysis stations for patients of all needs, the department is
open 6 days a week from 05:00 until 00:00,providing haemodialysis for
patients who attend 3 times weekly for treatment.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our
ward team, to care for patients within this very busy department.

The job of HCA  (dialysis care assistant) entails a variety of duties working with patients, assisting nursing staff, and working with specialist machinery.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

• Contributes to the work of the department by working under direct or indirect supervision of registered practitioners or assistant practitioners.
• Will carry out delegated, repetitive, routine and familiar tasks.
• Will in time develop an awareness of normal parameters concerning patient / client wellbeing and report that which is out with normal parameters to the registered professional
• Will plan and prioritise own and delegated work tasks and activities.
• Will carry out routine elements of assessment to enhance the patient / client journey, following an initial assessment by a registered practitioner.
• Meet basic care needs of patients, washing dressing, assistance with feeding etc.

• When trained and deemed competent undertake clinical activities, using appropriate equipment (these will be activities relevant to speciality) e.g. venepuncture, ECGs,

  ·         When trained and deemed competent following unit guidelines set up, and prepare the haemodialysis machines for use, strip down the dialysis machine and sterilise the machine as per unit guidelines disposing of all equipment as per Trust policy.

  ·  Connection of water treatment facilities and haemodialysis machines within various departments around the hospital.
