Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Café Development Officer to join our Facilities Team at St Nicholas Hospital, Gosforth.

This post will be offered as Full Time, 37.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

The café development officer will take our café and hospitality business to the next level. We operate cafés on eight of our main sites across the North East and Cumbria and they provide an important service to NHS staff, patients and visitors alike. The cafés are popular part of the services we provide.

You will work with café staff, supervisors and site managers to improve and develop the offer in our cafés. You will build on the strength of each café and bring improvements individually as well as to the cafés as a whole. You will improve income generation, improve customer service, ensuring health and safety compliance, deliver staff training, and contribute in a variety of ways to improving our business.

You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, be organised and resourceful and be able to think strategically whilst having an eye for detail. You will have a clear passion for food and beverage and possess excellent listening, collaboration and facilitation skills. You will be able to bring everyone together whilst ensuring we deliver to the highest standards and achieve the best outcomes for the organisation with patients, staff and visitors at the heart of our decisions.

Working for our organisation

NTW Solutions Limited is proud to provide services to the NHS. We keep hospitals clean and patients fed and we keep buildings running and grounds tidy. Our pharmacy team ensures patients get the medicine they need, and our workforce team recruits people onto the frontline. We transcribe thousands of important medical letters, provide a lease car service to keep people on the move, and ensure suppliers are paid on time.

We are dedicated to being a great inclusive place to work. We provide a wide range of benefits including a good rate of pay and pension and an extensive range of discounts. We care about health and wellbeing and offer a range of support for the people who work here.

We believe everyone has potential and welcome applications from ethnic minorities, those who are LGBTQ+, people with disabilities, anyone who is unemployed or has been out of work for a period of time, or those who have served in our armed forces.

We were set up by Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust to provide support services. As a limited company we have built a commercial ethos onto our NHS values and now provide our services to other NHS organisations and beyond.

We make a difference to people’s lives and working here is fulfilling and rewarding. Our social purpose is also driving our plans to become net zero and to tackle discrimination and champion equality. Working here means joining a friendly bunch of people dedicated to supporting better care.
