An exciting opportunity has arisen within NTW Solutions Ltd, in the role of a Gardener to join our Estates Team at Northgate Hospital.

Main duties of the job

To undertake the repair, maintenance and inspection of all external grounds and gardens associated with the Trust and its external contracts. This would include grounds and gardens planting materials and equipment in accordance with relevant legislative standards and operational procedures to ensure the external grounds of the site(s) provide a safe environment for patients, public and staff.

Be expected to produce work to a consistently high standard of work across the whole range of duties and applications required.

Shall be prepared to undertake additional training in order to fulfil the requirements of the post, satisfy new regulations/legislation or to further to develop the duties.

To participate in the out of hours and weekend on call rota, carrying out repairs gritting and snow clearing at designated owned or occupied Trust properties.  To be flexible in the provision of cover when colleagues on the rota are unavailable (holidays/sickness). To participate in the Estates Department return to work system, this may necessitate returning to work to attend to emergency situations, which can’t be dealt with solely by the on-call craftsman. This will require the post holder to have there contact telephone number made available to the Estates on-call Officer.

If you currently work for NTW Solutions on AfC terms and and conditions, you will be given the choice to retain these or move onto NTW Solutions terms and conditions. Please note that the above advertised salary will not apply if you choose to remain on AfC. Anyone currently paying into the NHS Pension scheme will be able to retain this.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to work under minimum supervision and follow legislative and operational policies and procedures
  • Produce work to a consistently high standard across the whole range of duties and applications required.
  • Must demonstrate good understanding of health & safety procedures
  • Must be able to meet the mobility requirements of the post

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous appropriate working experience in grounds maintenance including the safe use of tools and equipment associated with the grounds and gardens department
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of using weed killing equipment and ensuring all COSSH regulations are followed

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ at Level 2
