Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Clinical Support Assistant to work in the Newcastle West Community Treatment Team. This role will involve supporting a caseload of clients in the community who have various mental health problems including psychosis, depression and anxiety , eating disorder as well as complex emotional needs. The other part of the role is to work into clinics in the service supporting clients who receive clozapine medication, depot medication or require physical health problems.
The team consists of a well-established mix of professionals that work collaboratively to deliver individualised care.
The role involves supporting the clinical members of the team to deliver evidence based treatment and to engage in collaborative working across the multi-agency team.
You will work closely alongside other clinicians.
Main duties of the job
To assist in the delivery of care to service users who have a variety of needs, diverse presentations and a range of mental health conditions, cognitive and/or learning disabilities under the direction of a registered practitioner. The overall responsibility for the service user remains, at all times with the registered practitioner.
To implement and evaluate care within a prescribed framework as a member of the care team ensuring that high quality, individualised care is delivered and that this promotes recovery and wellbeing and maximises independence.
To support the team in providing excellent and effective person centred care.
To provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity.
To actively engage with supervision and appraisal process as identified in Trust policy.

Education and qualification
Essential criteria
- Senior Healthcare Support Worker or equivalent or working towards
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working within a relevant clinical service
- GCSE A-C in maths and English or equivalent.
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working/ volunteering in an appropriate care setting
- Experience of working with service users who have complex needs
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge or Experience of substance/alcohol misuse
- Previous experience in a community setting
- Experience of involving service users/ carers in evaluation/planning and monitoring of services
Skills
Essential criteria
- Good verbal and written communication skills. ICT Functional skills. Ability to work without direct supervision. Ability to contribute to a learning environment. To have an MDT approach. Time Management
